The
Musee Conti Wax Museum uses 154
delicately crafted life-sized wax
figures to tell the incredible
history of New Orleans. From
Napoleon is his bathtub to Voodoo
priests, the exhibits paint an
incredibly accurate and life-like
picture of the story of New
Orleans. Such legendary displays
as recreations of costumes from
the Knights of Sparta ball, scenes
of the Grand Duke Alexis's visit,
a figure of Chief Montana of the
Yellow Pocahontas Tribe, and a
miniature recreation of the 400
block of Royal Street during an
early parade, are all brought to
life before your eyes.
The
Haunted Dungeon exhibit strays
from the historically accurate in
order to simply give visitors an
incredible scare. The newly
renovated Legend Room explores the
mysterious world of Voodoo
rituals. A 45-minute presentation
guides visitors through the
history, rituals, and fantastic
tales of New Orleans Voodoo.
Visitors are given a sample of
Voodoo Love Potion drinks. The
tour culminates with the
"Spirit of Marie Laveau"
performing a ritual before her own
wax sculpture.
The
Musee Conti Wax Museum is located
in the Historic French Quarter
between Burgundy & Dauphine,
1½ blocks from Bourbon Street.
The museum offers tours to school
groups, individuals and is perfect
for private parties. The second
floor is available for special
events (seating up to 350, with
room for 750 cocktail).
